Nick Schaefer has been in international finance for fifteen years. At ABB he was a principal equity investor in power plant projects and developed power and infrastructure projects in all developing economies, working on projects in the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia, Western Europe and the US.
At SUVA, the Swiss National Accident Insurance Fund with CHF 30 billion in AuM he created and developed the Alternative Assets portfolio with CHF 1 billion in assets, investing in private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, high yield and structured credit, leading a highly successful turnaround of a USD 3.5 billion emerging market credit and CDO equity portfolio.
He has served on multiple investment committees and advisory boards.
At Credit Suisse he was the head of portfolio management for the CS Fides private banking subsidiary.
Nick holds dual Swiss and Italian citizenships. He holds a masters degree from ETH Zurich in Mathematics, Biophysics and Computer Science, a masters degree from HSG St. Gallen in International Economics and Asian Studies, an associate degree in Mandarin Chinese from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, and the FRM Financial Risk Manager designation.
Nick speaks German, French, Italian, English, some Spanish and some Mandarin Chinese.
